A Year to Remember
In the midst of the Holiday Season, and as we come to the end of 2023, we would like to spend a few moments reminiscing on the events of the year. These are just a few of the many highlights of this past year:
We were able to host two Nepal trips for the first time since 2019.
In March, four of our wonderful Mitrata Board Members attended a “working trip” to Nepal. On this trip, they were able to assist BSF with the children’s transition between school years, and interview all the sponsored children to provide updates and letters to their sponsors in the USA. In October, we hosted a 16-person Sponsor Trip to Nepal. Although the timing of this trip meant quite a bit of rain and humid weather, spirits remained high and everyone had a blast! The highlight of the trip was watching four Mitrata students graduate from the program, and join the ever-growing group of Mitrata alumni.
Trivia Night returned in-person, and was a huge success.
Despite falling on the same night as a terrible storm, complete with tornado sirens and hail, our participants came ready for some trivia and to Fund-A-Need! A safe and wonderful time was had by all, and we can’t wait to do it again next year. (Hopefully on a quieter and less eventful night.)
Miles for Mitrata Kids was extended for 6 months, had 31 participants, and raised $35,500 for the Contact Center.
This far surpassed our goal of $30,000! We are so impressed by the dedication and work ethic of our many participants to achieve this goal. Thank you!
The Holiday Bazaar was attended by more shoppers than in 2022, and raised $27,000.
Between our phenomenal volunteers, and everyone who took time out of their busy weekend to shop, the event was a huge success. We even had some amazing shoppers stop by the sponsor table and sign up to become new child sponsors and Contact Center sponsors!
Thank you to everyone who sponsored, participated, volunteered, gave, or supported Mitrata in any way in 2023.
Each of you has an important role to play as we continue to move forward, and everything you do really does change the world for our children. YOU are what enables Mitrata to lift our children out of poverty and change the world, one child at a time. Our Mitrata family made all of our achievements this year possible, and we are looking toward even bigger and better things in the coming year.
