Sign up for M4MK & a Team St. Louis Spotlight
Last week, Mitrata launched our registration for the Miles for Mitrata Kids event. This brand new event is a walk, bike, run, hike, anything active event to benefit the children we serve in Nepal! Team St. Louis and Team Seattle have both set out to raise $7,500 each, the equivalent of the number of miles it would take to reach our children in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Registration is $50, and all funds will go towards helping to prepare our children for school this year. All of the educational supplies and necessities stored in the Contact Center were distributed to the families we serve at the beginning of the pandemic. Now, as Nepal is still on lockdown and our children look to going to back to school (in whatever form that takes), we need your help to fill backpacks for our children in need.
A Spotlight on Team St. Louis…
Danny Williger, a Mitrata Board member on the Sponsorship and Fundraising committees, is one of the current registrants for Team St. Louis and the team captain! His goal is to bike 500 miles during the month of September. About Miles for Mitrata Children, Danny says:
“Once you set your personal goal, encourage others to support your effort with a donation to Mitrata. Perhaps you will set a goal to walk or run 25 or 50 miles in September and ask donors to match each mile with a $1 donation. Perhaps you will ride your bicycle 100 miles and ask donors to pledge $.50 for each mile you ride. Or perhaps you will ask friends and family to simply support you with a donation. Whatever you do, know that while you keep yourself healthy, you’re contributing to the education and well-being of children in need half a world away. We’re competing with Team Seattle, but I am confident that we can get there first and win bragging rights for 2020!
We will keep you up to date about our progress, and there may even be some surprises along the way! If you have questions or need some fundraising ideas, feel free to contact me directly.”
Jennifer Rashet, Mitrata’s Fundraising Committee Chair, is committed to walking 3-4 miles every day in September. That would be a whopping over 100 miles for the month! She is excited about this new event and hopes you will consider donating to help support continuing education for our children in Nepal.
