Our Participants Share Their Stories: Miles for Mitrata Kids
This is it. We’re at the finish line.
It’s been a long month of Miles for Mitrata Kids. Our supporters are working hard to get us to our goal of raising $30,000 for our early childhood development center in Nepal. And they’re close — at just shy of $20,000 raised so far. But we only have one week left! Before you continue reading stories from two of this year’s participants, please consider donating to either Team St. Louis or Team Seattle. Thank you for your support; together we can do it!!
Dean Wette
Dean Wette has been fundraising for Miles for Mitrata Kids Team St. Louis for the last two years, but his commitment and effort for Mitrata goes deeper. He is a partner in Object Computing, a corporate sponsor of Miles for Mitrata Kids, and has purchased items such as Bernie Mittens from the Mitrata online bazaar!
When asked why it’s so important to him to do as much as he has for Mitrata, Dean said “Kids are our future, but the underserved and underprivileged lack the resources to enable their success. They need our help. We have to enable them by stepping in and providing the resources they need in order to succeed. Their success is a legacy we should aspire to.”
He added that a core value of Object Computing is to “Share it back” so they can make us all “Stronger Together.” He believes the work done by Mitrata reflects those values. Thanks so much, Dean, for all you’ve contributed to Team St. Louis!!
David Carpenter
Dave Carpenter is a two-time M4MK participant who is a dedicated member of the Bike Stop Café charity cycling team. When asked why he thinks fundraising for the kids served by Mitrata is so important, he said, “I’m riding 300+ miles this month with my friends and teammates from Bike Stop Café to support the work of the Mitrata Foundation in its efforts to alleviate the terrible poverty, health, and educational conditions affecting the children of Nepal. They’ve been hit especially hard by the pandemic this past year, and need our help more than ever!”
Keep it up, David; we’re so close to the finish line!
