Learn More About Our Newest Board Members + Support Their Goals for 2021
Our Young Professionals Board is growing! From just beginning in 2019, the YPB has made it to 5 members as of 2021! We are thankful for everything they have done so far in supporting our events, especially virtual Trivia Night and our virtual Holiday Bazaar.
But our YPB is made up of motivated and passionate individuals, whose dreams don’t stop there. They all bring their own amazing skills and energy to the Board as well as the various committees they sit on: Digital Media, Fundraising, and Sponsorship. They also have their own goals, chief among them being making an Instagram presence for Mitrata and hosting their own, brand new events!
And, well, unsurprisingly to anyone who knows them, they’ve already accomplished both and have set more aggressive goals in the future. This Saturday as well as next Saturday, June 19, YPB will be hosting their own event by tabling for Mitrata as the Tower Grove Park Farmers Market. They’ll be spreading the word about Mitrata as well as selling some of our fair trade, handmade Nepali goods! They will be at the market from 8 am to 12 pm both Saturdays. Learn more about the farmers market here.
They have also launched an Instagram page for Mitrata from nothing and have reached nearly 130 followers already thanks to their hard work and marketing!!
We asked each of our newest YBP members to describe their experiences so far and tell us a little about themselves. Here’s what they had to say…

I've had a wonderful experience working with Mitrata. Everyone has been so inclusive, and I'm eager to learn more about the organization's operations. I'm excited to help the YPB grow and engage with rising young adults within our community, and I am hopeful to participate in the coming fundraisers. Some fun facts about me: I'm an avid rock climber and mountain biker, and I'm currently a flight instructor teaching student pilots from Saint Louis University at the St. Louis Downtown Airport!

It has been so fun getting to know and work with young people from varying backgrounds and professions to achieve a common goal: to help educate and empower children in Nepal. Having visited Nepal previously, I was able to experience the beauty and wonder that Nepal has to offer, as well as the extreme poverty and need of the people who live there. It is an honor to be able to work with such amazing people to accomplish great things, and I am passionate about the work Mitrata is doing to help young people not only survive but thrive. I hope to be able to go back to Nepal with Mitrata folks to meet the children we are helping, as well as experience the beauty of the country once again.
Fun fact: I took an airplane ride to see Mt. Everest up close and personal!

Hi, I’m an international student from Nepal. I love playing football (soccer), cycling, hiking, and trekking. Being involved with Mitrata Foundation and the Young Professional Board has been fun so far. I got the chance to meet new people who share a common vision for kids back in Nepal. I feel respected within the team and my suggestions are always considered. I am glad to be a part of this organization!
