Our New Partnership with Namaste Nepal

Namaste Nepal is a student non-profit organization that promotes multiculturalism and awareness, education, and understanding of Nepalese culture while cultivating a sense of community for Nepalese and other students at Truman. The main objective of Namaste Nepal is to promote the cultural diversity of Nepal at Truman State University and provide a medium for cultural exchange among various international students.

Dashain Night 2019

Every semester Namaste Nepal organizes a fundraising event to help the children of Nepal. In the fundraisers, the members cook Nepalese snacks such as ‘momo’, ‘pakora’, ‘nimki’, ‘samosa’ and sell to the students and staff on campus. In the past, Namaste Nepal has fundraised for different organizations such as Maiti Nepal and Quick volunteer, and this time we are very excited to be working with the Mitrata-Nepal Foundation for Children. We love how Mitrata supports schools, residential care, and the other needs of at-risk children in Nepal. It is based in St. Louis and has a Truman alumna on its staff, so this is all-around a cause very close to home for Namaste Nepal.

Fundraising Event 2016

An alumnus of Namaste Nepal, Nischal Shrestha, introduced us to this organization. This Fall semester, Namaste Nepal will be selling momos. Momo is a type of South Asian dumpling, usually steamed with some meat or vegetables and served with delicious pickle curry. All proceeds will go to support children in the care of Mitrata. Plan to come by our table in Violette Hall on October 28th from 11 am to 4 pm at Truman State University.
