Monumental Goals for the New Year
For most, beginning a new year often means setting new goals and resolutions. At Mitrata, the new year is no different! Throughout 2024 we will be setting new goals, while also accomplishing some goals we have been working toward for a long time.
One of our key goals over the past few years has been to reach a point as an organization where we begin to help even more children in Nepal through both our Contact Center and Child Sponsorship progams. We believe opening a second Contact Center is an important step enabling Mitrata to serve more of the most vulnerable children in the Kathmandu valley.
Through much hard work, our NGO partner in Nepal, Bhuvanshwari Satyal Foundation (BSF), has finally found the perfect location for a second Contact Center in Kathmandu. They have now begun the process of hiring and training the new staff members and procuring furniture and supplies needed to operate the new early childhood center. A second longstanding goal we have been working toward is bringing back an in-person Seattle, WA event! For many years, the Climb for Himalaya Children was a large event that brought people from St. Louis and Seattle together. Although we can no longer host the climb, we still deeply value our Mitrata family in the Seattle area, and believe gathering together in-person is important. So, we are launching a new event!
This year, we will host the first-ever Seattle Trivia Night on March 16, 2024. Event registration is launching next week, and we expect tables to fill quickly, so keep an eye out for the announcement!
The 2023 Mitrata Board Strategic Planning Meeting
Another major focus in 2024 is expanding the Mitrata family! This year, we are hoping to recruit new board members, committee members, and volunteers. Incoming Board President, Rick Hendin, mentioned, “We have an incredible group of dedicated people in these roles and still have many opportunities to add more!” If you are looking for new ways to get involved in Mitrata, you’re in luck!
