Learning to Read Maps

Thanks to Jim Brasunas, a long time sponsor at Mitrata, our secondary school kids at the Contact Center learned all about the art of reading maps! Jim conducted a carefully designed, very interesting map reading session earlier in November. The kids didn’t know that a map reading class can be so much fun!

The children were so excited that the maps also contain so many fascinating details about the evolutionary, cultural, and geological layering of various places around the world. They learned to read the legend on a map as well as that deceptively tricky business of folding the map back up!

Map reading skills can come in handy for our kids anytime as they are increasingly becoming independent commuters and travelers and maybe when they become explorers in their own right someday.
