“Namaste, my name is Susmita Gautam. I’m program coordinator in Bhuvaneshwori Satyal Foundation. As we all know, the entire world is in a critical situation right now. And firstly, I have accepted the fact, and I have been home quarantined since 9 days now. So, every day I try to be positive and productive both personally and professionally. Personally, I have been reading books, helping my parents, spending time with them, and doing some gardening, eating healthy food, drinking water, and I avoid sleeping during the day. And professionally, I have been in regular contact with older kids through social media because it’s easier to talk to them in a regular basis. So, we share our daily activities with them. I share what I have been doing and what they can do, and they share what they have been doing. And with small children, I talk to them over phone especially with their parents. Regarding Nepali culture, we have tendency of punishing children in order to make them disciplined. As they have been spending time with them 24/7, so parents must be irritated with them. So I have been talking to them and telling them not to be that angry with their children and try to play with them, remain calm, and how they can also get involved with their children and they both can have a good time together. So, and all of this information we gathered we shared between staff members. So, by far, things are going good. So lastly, I would like to say stay home, stay positive, stay healthy, and this too shall pass. Thank you so much!”
