Sponsorship and Beyond: The Many Ways to Help Our Children
Mitrata child sponsors are a rare breed of people. The willingness to support the education and well-being of a child half a world away is an extraordinary gift, a selfless act of charity bolstered by the belief that one’s actions can provide opportunities that would otherwise be unattainable. We are grateful every day for the generosity of our sponsors.
Some sponsors ask – is there something else I can do to further Mitrata’s mission? The answer is an enthusiastic YES! Please consider some of these possibilities.
Mitrata engages in several fundraising events each year, and each of these rely on the energy and creativity of many individuals to plan, execute and learn from these events so they can be improved in coming years. The three main fundraisers are Trivia Night, Miles for Mitrata Kids, and the Holiday Bazaar. Each of these is a labor-intensive event, and each requires many hands and minds to be a success. Of course participating in these events by purchasing a table at Trivia Night, registering to participate in Miles for Mitrata Kids or shopping the Holiday Bazaar are also fantastic ways to support Mitrata!
Similarly, the Sponsorship Committee has several outreach activities such as the Sponsor Appreciation Ice Cream Social and a Sponsorship Table at fundraising events, both of which rely on volunteers. Sponsors can also host their own Friendraiser event or social media fundraiser to raise awareness and fundraise to support our mission. We’re amazed by the willingness of sponsors to share their sponsorship stories with friends and family, and how open people are to helping sponsors accomplish their personal fundraising goals.
Mitrata has several committees comprised of Board members and volunteers, and sponsors are welcome to join a committee where they believe their talents and abilities would serve the organization. Committees include Sponsorship, Fundraising, Finance, as well as a Young Professionals Board.
Sponsors can also consider joining our Advisory Board, or even our Board of Directors! Both boards are comprised of child sponsors who sought ways to do more for the kids. Our boards are actively involved in the organization, and leadership roles are available. What better way to help guide our mission?
Or maybe you have another idea you would like to explore that you believe would help further Mitrata’s mission. We want to hear from you! Please share how you would like to get more involved.
