Counseling Mitrata's Children

Namaste, my name is Bimala Joshi, and I’m a Psychosocial Counselor at BSF. My journey with BSF began in 2015, and I look forward to the future with enthusiasm and zeal. BSF’s organized and structured working system of providing constructive feedback and supervision for counseling and its child-friendly environment makes me very happy working here. I acquired essential knowledge and skills on building rapport with children, planning objective-based group and individual counseling sessions, and conducting home visits as well as school and college visits to our children.

I joined BSF under the supervision of our Executive Director Leena Satyal and Chairperson Yogesh Satyal. Guidance from my other colleagues at BSF that I received early on also helped me immensely in being able to better understand our children. All this helped me adjust well, and it fostered my own readiness to learn and know about the children in the program and build good rapport with them in a short period of time.

BSF is one of the best places to learn, grow and expand one’s knowledge, and experience new ideas and practices and has been a highlight of my counseling career. Everyone works together to meet common goals, and I have learned a lot through working here. Every day, I feel more and more confident about my ability to conduct sessions with the children and their families. I also have gotten to attend various orientations and awareness classes related to children and adolescents after joining BSF.

To have had such experiences in a short period of time has really kept my spirits high and has motivated me to learn and further improve my skills. Today, my role as a counselor at BSF has become my second home and a strong part of my identity. When I look back, I feel satisfied and accomplished to have come such a long way through learning and experience. I feel confident about my knowledge and counseling skills, have built a better rapport with our children, and feel confident about dealing with their cases more effectively. I am grateful to BSF and all of my colleagues who have been so wonderful in this journey.
