Class of 2019 Graduates!!

This year like years past, we had the combined graduation celebrations for both our SEE graduates and Contact Center graduates (Class of 2019) two weeks ago at the Contact Center.

This year, 7 of our students successfully completed their SEE (Secondary Education Examinations) and 10 of our students graduated from The Contact Center. The SEE exam is very rigorous and is often a barrier to higher education. Poorer families usually do not have the means to send their children to schools that are able to prepare them for this exam. We are so proud of our students that passed the SEE this year, and we are equally as proud of our Contact Center kids and all of the great progress they have made towards their future!

The highlight of the day were the speeches from some of our graduates, which were fun-filled and moving true stories of personal challenges, hardship, determination, success, and gratitude. All of them were inspiring in their own right. These stories can from the students’ hearts, and it was amazing to see the Contact Center children inspired by them even at their young age.

BSF Board member Sagun Bista also congratulated and motivated all the students in the audience as did Susmita Gautam (program coordinator, and Rachana Rajbhandhari (Contact Center Coordinator). Ms. Bista also handed some books and educational toys to the Contact Center coordinator Rachana which her Canadian volunteer friends had organized for the Contact Center children.

The graduates cut the special (Lion King themed!) graduation cake. This was followed by nutritious lunch of rice, mixed beans, paneer, and eggs. Congratulations to both our students who passed the SEE exam and to our Contact Center graduates!
