July 20-22, 2017
100% of funds raised support our Contact Center program and unsponsored children living and studying in our boarding school programs. The Climb’s first priority it to fund the total annual operating budget need of our Contact Center, a rehabilitative education day program for street children, children of itinerant workers and children coming from child labor. The Climb’s second priority is to partially fund children who are without sponsors living and studying in our boarding school program.
1. Climb the Mountain
CHC Climbers climb the mountain over the course of three days. They will be trained on how to use technical mountaineering gear like ropes, harnesses, ice axes and crampons during their ascent. It's a incredibly physically challenging endeavor, but if you seriously get in shape for it, most people can be successful -- depending on weather and route conditions. No prior mountaineering experience is required.
2. Be a "CHC Sherpa"
A CHC Sherpa is someone who doesn't want to actually climb the mountain, but wants to help on a less committing basis by helping carry a piece of group gear to or from the Climber's high camp. The non-technical hike is mostly in snow and is done in a day. The hike itself takes about 4 to 5 hours up and 2 hours down and is quite physically demanding. You can participate on either the first day (Thursday, July 20), or last day (Saturday, July 22), or both.
The biggest fundraiser wins a trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp in Nepal!
